Barry Knight enters his fourth season with the McCracken County men's track & field program serving as the team's assistant coach with a focus on building the Mustangs' distance running core. Along with coaching track & field, Coach Knight is McCracken County's head men's cross country coach and a Fire Captain with the Paducah Fire Department. In his first year at the helm, Coach Knight helped the men's cross country earn their first team bid to the KHSAA State Meet and has led the program to a Region 1 Class A Runners-up finish. Under Coach Knight 7 distance runners have qualified for the KHSAA State Track Meet and he's had 3 place winners at KTCCCA Middle School State including 1 MS State Champion!
A graduate of Calloway County High School and Murray State University he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Recreation and minored in Criminal Justice while competing as part of the Racers' cross country and track & field programs. As an athlete, he was a 4 year varsity letterman for both the Lakers and Racers. Having earned All-American honors 15 times, Coach Knight is also a National Champion Triathlete.
