At halftime of Saturday's first game, McCracken County's girls trailed Vienna (Illinois), 29-28.

A third quarter explosion, to the tune of 20-2, propelled the Lady Mustangs over the Lady Eagles, 55-38.

For the second night in a row, Destiny Thomas led the Lady Mustangs (4-1) in scoring -- this time with 17 points.

Abby Ellington followed with 14 and Marlee Morehead 10.

"He told us to get our heads in the game," Thomas said, describing McCracken coach Scott Sivills' succinct halftime message. "We needed to wake up. In the first half, we were not focused at all. So, I feel like, during halftime, in the locker room, we just needed to get back focused."
